24 hours in Ottawa (and Hanson)

A couple weeks ago, I went on a little road trip with two of my besties to the capital of Canada, Ottawa.
We hit the road to head to the Ottawa Blue's Fest and see our favourite band, Hanson.
I had a wedding to attend the next day, so our trip was short, but I thought I'd share some of the highlights with you guys.
I didn't snap a lot of photos, because I wanted to really take in our short 24 hour trip.

Being that we were only in Ottawa for a short 24 hours, we didn't get to try many restaurants, but I have two places I highly recommend.
The Scone Witch is the cutest little cafe on Elgin St. makes the most delicious scones and jams.
If you're looking for somewhere to have a drink outdoors, I highly recommend The Social.
They have the most stunning and secluded patio out back that has the feel of being in Europe.
I wish I had photos to do it justice, but I was too busy enjoying myself to snap any.

Now for some photos of my favourite part of the trip - seeing Hanson at The Ottawa Bluesfest.
They were the main motivation behind our quick trip to Ottawa and they did not disappoint.
It was by far one of the best sets I've seen them play.
Lots of high energy, feel good songs.
I think Hanson was really in their element at a festival like this.

A few of my favourite songs they played.

I've Got Soul from album Anthem
Waiting For This from album Shout It Out
Thinking Bout' Somethin' from album Shout It Out
Been There Before from album The Walk
Watch Over Me from album The Walk

and of course they played fan favourites
Mmmbop and Where's The Love
and many other songs that I'm forgetting right now :)

After the show we got the chance to talk to Taylor and Zac which was awesome.
They were lovely as always!
At the end of the set, Zac did a pretty epic backwards jump off his drum kit and hit his head pretty hard off the stage lights.
The impact was so hard the lights moved and I could hear a huge thump.
I was sure he was going to stand up and be bleeding everywhere, but he got up like no big deal!
In the photos below, Zac is explaining to me how his big head (his words haha) and his hair protected him when he hit is head at the end of the show.
