Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs

Yesterday, we did something as a family that we've never done before.
We made our own Easter egg dye using food.
The kids were so excited to get in the kitchen and do this "experiment".
They couldn't possibly believe that they could make their own dye using red cabbage and turmeric spice.

This was a really fun experience from start to finish.
This wasn't a quick process by any means, but there's something so rewarding about taking a slow approach to things.
The kids were involved in every step of this process.
From cutting the red cabbage into little strips to watching it boil on the stove.

This was a great lesson in patience and the feeling of accomplishment after  hard work.

Supplies:

- Eggs
- 5 cups Red Cabbage
-  4 tbs Turmeric
- Vinegar
- Water
- Vingegar

Instructions:
Prepare cabbage by cutting into strips.
Add 5 cups of water each to two saucepans.

Add turmeric to one and cabbage to the other.

Bring to a boil.

Cover and simmer for 1 hour.

Strain liquid through a sieve into a bowl.

Add 5 tablespoons of vinegar to the dye and let cool to room temperature.

To dye, refrigerate hard-boiled eggs in dye solution over night.
