Urine Trouble - How to get the smell of pee off your couch

What happens when you let your potty training toddler fall asleep on your couch?
  Urine trouble!
Get it ? Like your in trouble haha I thought that was pretty clever!
The other day I let Audrey fall asleep on our couch and the dreaded occurred. She peed all over the couch. I looked for advice on Pinterest on how to  get the smell of urine out of furniture and couldn't really find anything useful.
I got some advice from other mama friends and here is what I came up with gathering all the advice and it worked!!
There is no smell of pee on my couch 1 day later!! Hooray!

Step 1 -
Blot Pee with paper towel to soak most of it up.

Step 2 -
Pour a cup of water over the pee and blot again.

Step 3-
Pour/spray  1/4 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of water  on pee and repeat blotting

Step 4-
Rub 1/4 cup of baking soda into the stain and let it from a sort of paste

Step 5-
Let dry over night and vacuum the next day

Voila! There should be no smell of pee left :)

What tricks/tips do you have to remove the smell of urine from furniture?

They are listening.

I don't know about you guys, but most of the time, we feel like everything we are trying to teach our children goes in one ear and right out the other.
We have three children, ages seven, five and almost three, which means our house is chaotic in the best of times.
In the midst of this chaos we are trying to teach our children good values.
We expect them to be kind and respectful to themselves and others at the very least.
Even with all the values we think we are instilling in our children, the attitude we see in this house from our girls is, frankly, embarrassing.
There's eye rolling, talking back and body posture I'm sure I didn't even know about until I was a teen.
It's just not acceptable in this house and we make sure to let the girls know that.
We expect please and thank yous.
As the girls get older, the attitude we see seems to increase and at night my husband and I find ourselves asking where we went wrong?
Why are they giving so much attitude? We would've never talked to our parents this way.
I could Blame it on the influence of social media, all the YouTube videos they watch, todays celebrities or the kids at school, and a million other factors, but I won't do that.
It's our responsibility as parents to teach our children right from wrong.
That demanding things is not acceptable.
That manners go a long way.
That if you want to be respected you also need to respect others.
My husband and I were feeling pretty defeated, we felt everything we were trying to teach was going to waste until on two separate occasions
we heard the most positive feedback from two separate people on how our children behaved when we weren't there.
We were told they had excellent manners.
That they were including others who were feeling left out.
That they were teaching others that the colour of someones skin was of no importance as long as they had a kind heart.
The point of this blog post is to remember to never give up.
I know how easy it would be to give up, and just say forget it when your exhausted and feeling out numbered.
It would be so easy for me to just ignore the eye rolling, but I won't do it, because I love my children and want them to grow into adults who show respect and have kind hearts.
Even if the attitude at home could still use some improvement, the fact of the matter is, our children are listening to us and I'm sure yours are too!
They are listening to everything you are teaching them even when you think they aren't.
So don't give up!
This parenting thing isn't supposed to be easy.

Favourite Things - DOORS

Top of the morning to you!
I may still be in Irish mode from St. Patricks day Yesterday.
I didn't even celebrate it this year, but I did enjoy the Irish music being played on the radio!
I may or may not have had my own dance party on the way into work in my mom van!
We're taking the kids to see the Easter Bunny this weekend and I'm hoping it is more successful than that time we tried to get Santa Pictures three times and failed. You can read all about that here.
Today, I wanted to write a Friday Favourites because I haven't in a while and I've been sort of obsessing over doors.
If you follow me on Instagram you probably already know that we moved a few months back, into an older home that needs some love.
So far we have done some plumbing, updated our fireplace with some fresh paint and changed out some hardware.
When we looked at the house one of the things I loved right away was the front door.
After moving in though, we realized, the previous owner basically took the old front door, painted it black and added a decorative glass insert.
That's all fine and good, but when they installed the door back on they installed it all wrong and there is a huge gap between the door and the trim that weatherstripping can't even fix.
One winter day, we had a snow storm in our front entry way because of this.
Anyways, more on that in another post, but basically I've been begging my husband to update the doors in our house as our first big project.
I wanted a more classic front door, and our sliding doors in our living room are 25 years old and its time for a change!
Last week my husband ordered a new front door, patio doors and mudroom door and I can't wait to share those with you when they arrive.
I'll leave you with some door Inspiration I've found on Pinterest.
I'd love you to share your favourite door styles with me in the comments below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram
Happy Friday <3

Say Goodbye to Harmful Bacteria Living in Your Bathroom with Clorox

Do you guys enjoy cleaning?
I know there are some of you who actually enjoy cleaning, and once upon a time I was a newlywed who thought keeping a clean home was just the most exciting thing EVER.
Fast forward 8 years of marriage and three kids later and the novelty of keeping a perfectly clean home has worn off.
I try to avoid cleaning for as long as I possibly can, especially the toilet!
Being a family of five means that the toilet is one place that needs to be cleaned often, which is why I was thrilled when Clorox sent me their new Disinfecting Toilet Wand.

Guys, this thing is A to the Mazing!
I am never cleaning a toilet with a regular old toilet brush again.

Each starter kit comes with
1 Storage Caddy
1 Disinfecting Toilet Wand Handle
6 Single-Use Disposable, Disinfecting Cleaning Head Refills

The Toilet Wand is white and sleek and looks great in our washroom.
The wand clicks right into the cleaning heads that are stored inside the caddy, which are already preloaded with Clorox toilet bowl cleaner.
All I had to do was click, clean & toss my way to a clean and sparkly toilet!
Easy Peasy!
I only wish this product was available 7 years ago when my first baby was born!
I don't know what it is about my kids, but they are attracted to anything unsanitary in our home, the toilet brush included.
No need to worry now about our two year old touching any harmful bacterias that live on our traditional toilet brush.
If you are a mama bear worried about your children touching nasty toilet germs like I am, then you need to give this product a try!

Thanks to #CloroxCanada for the samples and gift card in exchange for this review.

Metric Cover "the shade"

Happy Tuesday!
Hope everyone had a fabulous day!
It was warm enough today that I could do without my winter coat, so I was a happy gal!
I was looking through old videos on my computer and came across this little family music video we made last summer!
One of our favourite ways to connect as a family is to sit down and play or sing music together.
I love seeing our children take an interest in something my husband and I are both so passionate about.

What do you do with your family to connect?

Snow day

Yesterday we were hit with a big Winter Storm.
The snow was so high you could hardly see my husband's Fiat in the driveway.
I practically jumped for Joy when I looked out the window and saw all that white stuff.
There was too much snow to make our commute into work, so my husband and I kept the kids home from school for a SNOW DAY!
Snow Days are even better as an adult then they were for me as a kid.
I usually had to go to school when the buses were cancelled because my mom and dad had to go to work.
My husband and I both commute a 45 minute drive away from our jobs, so if the weather is ugly, we don't risk it.
I love any opportunity to have one extra day home with my husband and three kids.
We started our day by taking the kids to the Community Centre for the public swim.
My kids are fish! They absolutely love being in the water.
After swimming, we came home to have lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon watching movies and doing crafts.
It was a perfect day.
